She's in her early 30's with a casual boyfriend on one arm and the latest handbag in the other. She won't see her apartment in weeks because her job takes her around the country. You'll never see her without her phone or great shoes. Her clothing is always stylish and always functional so she can go from Nine to Five in a flash.
It's a great little story, ne? Well, this is the fantasy that Kim Newport-Mimran hopes to create with her Spring 2010 collection. This is the woman she wants you to be. The Fashionistas and Neiman Marcus recently hosted a preview for the Pink Tartan Spring 2010. The collection is made up of classic styles with some girlish touches like sequins ("It's all about sequins this season") and ruffles.
Black and white dominated the informal fashion show with bold splashes of color here and there. It's interesting to note that she designs all her own prints.
BTW, you can't go wrong with black and white. Even though everyone was supper excited about the printed dress in the middle below, my favorites were the tops on either side of it. One's girly, one's a bit edgy - my two favorite extremes.
I really loved this tuxedo shirt to the left. It's one of those things that can make a woman look undeniably sexy. And speaking of sexy androgyny, blazers are making a comeback! To the right, Kim gave us a one-of-the-guys resort look that exudes confidence. Kinda reminds me of my business classes where the girls were told we had to play hardball with the guys to get ahead. I'll do it in this outfit with a beautiful girl at my side. (^_^)
But despite all the sexy masculine touches, this epitome of femininity below took my breath away. I've always been a big fan of pink and gold - there's something so sweet yet decadent about it (just look a Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette).
