August Alexander Flew Us First-Class with Debut Fashion Show

I've never been to a fashion show in plane hangar before, but I hope it's not the last time. Designer Courtney Russel debuted his line - August Alexander - this last weekend from Hangar 10 in Addison and he did not skimp on the style.

The fashion show started when a lone figure pushed open the hangar door to reveal a jet plane. The fashion was no where in sight but the crowd was already pumped. Then the models came out and, one by one, began to walk the 40-ft (appx) runway.

From the press release, I knew to expect 60's-Jackie O-style, which we've seen done and redone and reinvented and casualized - let's just say the idea of a lady has always inspired designers. So with these preconceptions in place, I watched the models take the runway, proving that vintage class and contemporary style can coexist beautifully.

One of my favorites included this black dress to the left because I really felt that jet-setting starlet from old movies without feeling forced. It might have had something to do with the sheer, flowy fabric or the ease of the shift dresses. I also really liked his use of bows.

Lately we've been bombarded my media telling us that the 60's or the 70's are coming back, that vintage is the new modern and the like. August Alexander takes this into account, inspired by an era-gone-by, but doesn't lose the modern touch.

If you'd to learn more about this new fashion line, the website will go live within a month: AugustAlexander.com
