[SHOP GEEK] Bath and Body Works, Go Now

I recently went to Bath and Body Works to restock on lotions. You should go to because they're promoting their new scent INTO THE WILD and the mini-bottles are only $1!

Buy two or three - one for at home, one for work, keep one in your car like me. And I wouldn't be recommending it if it didn't smell good. They went for exotic flowers and didn't land too far off.

Also, please note this flyer to the right. This coming Saturday is free tote bag and lotion with purchase. Perfect if you like (semi) free stuff. Beach season is right around the corner so a new tote bag is never out of the question.

I don't know if you need to have the flyer on Saturday but if you click it, it will take you to a larger version you can print.

[STREET SNAP] If You Could Scream Southwest Any Louder...

Walking through the gayborhood on Friday, and despite the title, I think her outfit is quite cute (maybe it's the turquoise). The irony of wearing cowboy boots in Dallas never goes out of style.

Somewhere Between Fashion, Art and Too Much Homework, That's Where I'll Be

These are my most recent assignments for Photoshop 101. We could have chosen any photo we wanted but I really wanted to work on some fashion pictures. Whether or not you know Photoshop, this teacher really likes to pile on the work so I've fallen a bit behind.

The top one is our simulated watercolor project.

Feathers, Needles & a Dark Sort of Art

A little while ago, I went to The Church with Alex and Allison for some "nightly service". I know it's not wise to go out on a Sunday night but then I miss things like this. The special guest was DATURA. Although, I can't seem to find a website for them, I know they come from California and their act is a mix of burlesque and freak.

The first two performers gave us an interesting striptease, complete with clothing that was attached to their skin with long needles. And, yes, those are roses the performers are sticking in their cheeks.

Then the guy with the birdcage on his head stepped forward and the mood changed. The act came together as a performing art piece, rooted in human darkness.

And up he went, suspended by his flesh.

Alex and I loved every minute of the show. Allison, however, is afraid of needles so she spent half the show with her eyes closed. We've decided to go "pray" more often.

#ParkLaneFashion: Local Shopping Center Hosts Progressive Fashion Blogger Day

When I first saw the Shops at Park Lane, it looked like a giant parking garage across from Northpark Mark, Dallas' luxury shopping center. I've passed it various times and I could tell it was a new shopping center that housed a Whole Foods and Nordstrom Rack. Its giant cement face that overlooks the highway, however, never really drew me in.

So I thank Nichole Luna, the Shops Community Manager for inviting a handful of Dallas bloggers to come explore the new addition Dallas' upscale concrete jungle.

We started off at the largest Whole Foods in North Texas, which aims to be more of a lifestyle center than a supermarket. You don't just go grocery shopping, you can have lunch, enjoy their wine and cheese bar, surf the internet, host a small meet-up, and leave your kids to be entertained by a giant touch screen.

[STREET SNAP] Fashion Student Confidential ~ 2011 Edition

Taken at the recent FGI Dallas Career Day. She was one of the design students whose garment got to walk the runway. I'll be posting those picture a little later as there are more than 200 to go through.

[COOL MARKETING] Havianas Sandal Promotion

Havianas Sandals, Cool Marketing Idea, Fashion Marketing

Havianas Sandals, Cool Marketing Idea, Fashion Marketing

International shoe company Havianas recently sponsored a merchandising competition for Dallas Career Day. I had a booth pimping my web and logo design services two tables down from them and this cute piece of swag caught my eye.

The competition and their booth centered around promoting their new customizable sandals coming out sometime this month. I'm sure the tiny-sandal-and-chapstick combo was hard to resist for the fashion students attending the local style symposium. Thumbs-up for creativity and functionality - you can't have too much chapstick.
