[STREET SNAP] I know this seems so wrong // But I'm just a love sick criminal ...

Last night, I went to a small fashion show at Club Plush in Downtown Dallas. The designer is both a good friend and a website client of mine - and I just found out she may be going to NY Fashion Week! Super cool if she does!

Anyway, this club kid first stood out to me because of her shoes - different but in a good way. The colors on the dress are very playful but I'm still torn on whether it goes with the shoes. What do you think?

[OOTD] Shorts & Sundays - That's What Summer's All About

This was the accessorized outfit I wore yesterday while we still had sun, lot's of sun. I bought the accessories on Sunday when I tore myself away from my computer long enough to take Purikura sticker photos with Alex, my friend Allison, and my sis.

It was a girly afternoon full of window shopping, shiny things, and pastries. My GF isn't very girly but even she enjoys it. I was so happy to find the earrings and necklace above on sale because I seem to have finished off my paycheck. (-_-)'

The Purikura is worth it, though. You can be as stupid or silly as you want with the pictures. And then, stick them on everything!
My phone is my most recent victim.

[OOTD] Fancy Things Will Never Come In Between

Style Geek,OOTD,Daily Outfit,Fashion BlogI was aiming for cute with the pink bows and Betty Boop tank. It's my "Say-Good-Bye-2-Leggings" outfit as the temperature has now reached and passed 100°F (38°C) here in Dallas. They're only comfy if you're staying someplace with A/C.

I also wanted to highlight the shoes - Playboy. My inner feminist was upset at the purchase. My inner fashionista went "Oh! Pretty!" Sometimes, they wage war in my head.

Red & Black Mix & Mingle ~ Local Fashion Show

Dallas Fashion Show,Red Black Mix Mingle,June 2010

I've noticed a growing trend in Dallas lately: it seems that a fashion show is best way to create awareness for a cause, whether it's kidney disease or sickle cell anemia. And it's no surprise since the locals love their fashion.

This past Saturday, I attended one such show. The Red & Black Mix & Mingle Fashion Show was thrown by Johanna Mack-Wesson (in the white tank above on the far right), the mother of a boy with sickle-cell anemia. For anyone who doesn't know about this disease, it's a genetic trait where your body creates crescent-moon-shaped blood cells as opposed to the regular disc-shaped cells, which clump as they circulate. As a near-and-dear cause, she gave the show her all.

The location was in South Dallas, a little withdrawn from the urban hustle where most show take place, but it still had a classy, jazzy feel with a good stage. The hostess Mrs. Brenda "BJ" Johnson, however, truly brought the show to life. Dallas Fashion Show,Red Black Mix Mingle,June 2010 As a former Mrs. Texas Plus Size America, she's no stranger to the runway and she she had no problem making that clear. As the models walked out in fashions by local designers, she coordinated them, slowing them down and giving them extra stops. Normally, it would be very unprofessional, but BJ pulled as part of the show.

The first segment included a live hair styling by Eccentric Elegance Salon. The stylist showed both speed and creativity as she put together two styles for the audience. It was funny during the first styling where a speed pulled off the models hair piece, put that remedied by the second styling. BJ pointed out how trendy the stylist was dressed, and if you're looking to get a cute, contemporary haircut, you should check how stylists are dressed.

Dallas Fashion Show,Red Black Mix Mingle,June 2010 The two main designers of the night were Cubic House of Fashion and Ann Roy Designs. There were a few men's suitings but they weren't anything out of the ordinary. The models, on the other hand, worked the stage.

Cubic's designs (pictured in the above set) were great bold and great for show, especially the gray, ethereal dress that garnered cheers from the audience. My favorites were the white romper and the shiny white pantsuit that look at home with the Dallas nightlife.

During a small intermission, BJ gave a vivacious performance and, like many hosts, proceeded to pick on the audience - namely me. She had me take the runway because I was taking notes and not clapping loud enough. This was followed by the purse vendor Oooh, I Like That! The crowd, of course, oh-ed and ah-ed at the purses. I found myself drawn to the red one in the middle.

Ann Roy's first segment included simple dresses for women of all sizes. The highlight of the segment was the last dress - glossy black with peek-a-boo yellow details - perfect for a fashion event. The second segment closed the show with a parade of sequins: long, short, evening, and cocktail.

Dallas Fashion Show,Red Black Mix Mingle,June 2010This was a free charity fashion show so at the end, our saucy hostess called for donations - in a way I had ever seen before. I didn't know I had to bring singles. It's good to note then that Johanna said it's only the first fashion show she'll be doing for Parents with a Cause for Sickle Cell Anemia.

[DAILY OUTFIT] I Can Taste You On My Lips And Smell You In My Clothes

Cinnamon And Sugary
And Softly Spoken Lies
You Never Know Just How You Look
Through Other People's Eyes...

OOTD,Fashion Blog,Style Geek,Sequin,Bow,Stud,Sandals

I got a new shirt and a new pair of sandals on Thursday, compliments of Mom. Even though I paired it with a simple pair of leggings, I felt this shirt deserved it's own post - it's a huge sequin bow. It makes a statement all on it's own so I didn't really want to wear much.

The sandals are my new drug, though, as they are ubber comfy and cute - see how they make my toe happy. My sisters keep urging me to go get a pedicure if I'm gonna be in sandals for the next 5 months. *rolls eyes* Seems like a waste of money to me, plus the fake nails feel weird with pumps.

I'll Show You Headcase -- Styling Your Scarf for the Summer

Hair Bow,Scarf,Summer,Fashion Blog,Style Geek,Dallas If you're living in the Northern Hemisphere right now, you might have noticed the warm summer air rolling in a while back. If you're living in Texas, you're laughing because summer never just rolls in - it charges in and takes over, relieving us of jackets, scarves, and occasionally leggings.

But what about that cute scarf you bought only a few months ago? Is it already time to pack it away? Or worse, give it to goodwill because you know it'll be out come Fall/Winter 2010? Of course not!

Pay a little homage to the 80's (again) and put it on your head. Bows are a really cute detail that aren't gonna die off anytime soon so just take the scarf and tie it into a big bow. Let it droop, let it be a little messy - either way it's cute.

Hair Bow,Scarf,Summer,Fashion Blog,Style Geek,Dallas If you have on of those square handkerchief scarves (you know the ones that swept over America last Fall), it is a little harder but try fold/rolling it until it's about 2" in width. Depending on the length, you might be able to to make a small bow (yay) or you can just tie a double knot to add some lift to the hanging pieces.

There's gotta be something to this look if ASOS has some premade scarf-bows. They're printed with little volume on the scarf and are currently going for $13+. I'm not a big fan of the paisley one but I love the chain print. I'm debating between buying it or finding the print at the fabric store and just buying a yard to tie up. I think the fabric choice requires a serger for the unfinished edges. (>__<) However, E-bay may have solved my problem: I found some gorgeous chain-printed scarves for $5.99 in Red & Purple! Also, if you search for "chain print scarf" on Google or wherever, you're sure to find a design that fits your style.

Don't wanna wear it on your head?
Hair Bow,Scarf,Summer,Fashion Blog,Style Geek,Dallas Hair Bow,Scarf,Summer,Fashion Blog,Style Geek,Dallas Make it a simple bag accessory, but make sure to tie it to the handle's metal base less it move on you. After the we took the pictures and I started uploading them, my sister chimed in with a brilliant idea for added glitz: attach some necklaces and charms. So I strung two necklaces through the scarf before I tied the bow and Voila!
