Project Runway Scoop!

Who's been watching
Project Runway on Lifetime?

Do you remember Louise Black? She was eliminated four weeks ago after a starting off strong. This didn't go unnoticed as she is now doing a bit costuming for none other than Courtney Love. I went to school with her three years ago here in Dallas and I heard from someone who is still in contact with her. This is one of many jobs offered to her because of Project Runway!

This pic was originally meant just for the girl on the right but she pulled in
her sister/friend, who is gorgeous but nothing going on outfit-wise.

Here's a teaser collage of some of the catwalk fashions. I'm getting with the photographer tomorrow so I can post good pictures.

And there's Jackie Phillips, the one who made this Showcase happen. It took forever to get her on the catwalk. She doesn't care to be known or credited - "I'm happy just seeing them [the designers' work] on stage."

METROBUTCH FIND: Truly Tarty Cuff

Metro Lesbian Butch Wrist Cuff Trend, street fashion dallas lesbian lez style style geekRemember my posting last Tuesday about Metrobutch fashion? I stumbled upon some rather stylish, rocker cuffs that would really go with the look.

Texas Tarts is the perpetrator of these and other accessories made from old vinyl records. Very eco-friendly, very rockstar.

FASHION DOPPLER: JPhill's Management Fashion Showcase

"Women should be able to go up to their closet and feel couture,
sexy, sensual - like it was their own personal boutique."

Jackie Phillips, founder of JPhill's Management & Production, says this is the core concept behind her latest project: The Closet Boutique High En Fashion Showcase, an event meant to entertain the fashionista with more than just clothes.

The Closet Boutique High En Fashion Showcase will take place next Saturday, Oct 24th at 6:00 PM in the eXcuses eXtreme Cafe, formerly Club One. The showcase will be more than your run-of-the-mill fashion show, making it a great fit in Deep Ellum, the heart and soul of the music-artisan scene in Dallas.

The showcase will be broken down into 5 categories: Urban, Lingerie, End Perfection, Exotic & Couture. Featured designers include Dirty World Clothing from LA, the Burton & Donaldson Collection from Florida, and DFW local Tie Concepts. Phillips also wants to support local and upandcoming designers so students from the Art Institute of Dallas will also be showing their collections.

Add a few skits and some airbrushed fashion and this event promises to tingle your fashion sense. Tickets are $20 on JPhill's website. Phillips says this is only the first in many such events to come!

See you there!

[DAILY OUTFIT] Let's (Make It) Work

street fashion dallas lesbian lez style style geek In an effort to make work suck less, I'm dressing a little bit cuter, adding some style... fashion makes me feel good. Maybe it will help me ignore the idiots that walk in every ten minutes.

As far as fashionable work clothing go, check out this video from Daily Dose of Style. They're styled the LBD last week for many different occasions and different looks.

"...Nothing screams work other than a blazer..." That's very true in my opinion. But the prescription-less Ralph Lauren glasses - seriously? If you do your job right, you won't need glasses to look smart.

As an eye-slave to glasses for over 10 years, it's annoying for people to think GLASSES = SMART. They are necessary tools to function. Yes, they can be cute and they can be fashionable and some people who need them are pretty smart, but don't use them if you don't need them. You make the rest of us look bad.

[STREET SNAP] Words of A True Artist

Just a few words to keep in mind this weekend...

street style, artist quote, A TRUE ARTIST CREATES FROM NOTHING
A TRUE ARTIST CREATES FROM NOTHING

My schedule is completely out of whack since they cut my hours at work and I had two tests this week. Damnitall! Posting's been difficult (>__<) I'm back though! And I have some fun events for everyone! Wanna join me? Are you local? http://DallasFashionCalendar.com/

Rewerked Vintage @ Urban Street Bazaar

A few more pictures from the Urban Street Bazaar this past weekend. It sure was busy lol.

One of the booths that really caught my eye was Rewerked Vintage.

The designer started the line when she was going to Parson and then relocated here to Dallas. Wow, NYC to Dallas! (O__o) But she does believe in Dallas' potential to become a fashion capital. (Me too! ^__^)

The vest she's wearing was my favorite piece. Whoever said stripes were NOT a girl's best friend just didn't know how to wear them.

[STREET SNAP] Urban Street Bazaar, Baby

The Urban Street Bazaar took place this past week in the Bishop Arts District in Oak Cliff. I worked all Saturday and slept in Sunday, so I barely made it for a good 30 minutes. Bishop Arts was crawling with a culture that is rare to [the ghetto that is] Oak Cliff, so for a 15yr resident of Oak Cliff, it was a wonderful change of pace. Seriously, people from other parts of Dallas are afraid to go into Oak Cliff. They are slowly revalizing the neighborhood so events like these are really good press. (^__^)

You don't really see fashion like this on the daily in Oak Cliff. It was like a breath of fresh air, and not just her but many of the Bazaar patrons. She did, however, walk into the oNli boutique while I was meeting with the owner to revamp her website. Yay for work! LoL

I also saw this bag at one of the vendor tents: Cut Out And Collect. I needed to share it. My digicam died shortly after I took this.

[TREND WATCH] The Metrobutch's Top 10 Trends for Fall 2009

Metro Butch Mock Magazine Cover, Top 10 Fashion Trends for Fall 2009 The most recent assignment for my fashion writing class was to think of a creative way to show your the Top 10 Picks for this Fall. Somewhere between biker jackets, plaid and boyfriend blazers, this Fall seemed to scream "lesbian", making it easier for the non-fashion-forward lezzies to dress more fashionable. I've been watching it happen. (*__*)

My layout was simple: a mini parody magazine that would be inserted into the Dallas Voice, a free LGBT publication.

The title came from a YouTube video by TunaTalk about metrosexual butches. What tool belt? I have a Mossimo shoebox full of random tools (that I actually know how to use YAY!) Props to my friend Yuki for being my cover model. (=^__^=)

Caught her waiting for the bus this past Friday. It was a good beginning to a rainy and busy weekend. My eyes were burning for a few days so I decided to take a break from my computer. Now I'm back full force, snapping pictures and taking names (not really). Check out my new project: Dallas Fashion Calendar, especially if you're a Dallas-resident fashionista.

Domestic Matching Couples

street fashion dallas lesbian lez style style geek

I saw this couple over on Easy Fashion. The first thought that popped into my head is that home decor blue-and-yellow color scheme that was a so trendy a while back. It didn't help that they're a couple - a fashion forward matching couple. Great Style (^__^)

[GEEK OUT] Fashion Celebrates Halloween Chic with Costume Ideas

Hello October! Don't tell the other months but you're my favorite! The chilly nights give way to Halloween - when it's okay to be a little bloody, a little dark. Just look at Harper's Bazaar spread for Tim Burton. If you want to add designer pieces to your Halloween costume, this is the way to do it.

Or maybe you want to be the most fashionable zombie on your block. Ann-Sofie Back rocked the Fall/Winter catwalk with goth-inspired threads and ghostly dead models.

Rodarte wowed us with their Spring/Summer presentation - a perfect look for the post-Apocalyptic heroine. Add a sword or a gun and some matching facial tattoos and you can say you survived the nuclear holocaust in style!

D Magazine (a local Dallas magazine w00t!) did some fashionable ghouls last year in their Black Metal Barbies spread. I'm very partial to this as a costume: the high-powered, fashion forward demon ghoul (I'm sure some may feel there's a few roaming around their offices).

The Man Behind the Afro

I had to share this coolness - his confidence. It's hard to rock an afro, yet he pulls it off so naturally. +5!
